New Armed Attack in Kenscoff Triggers Destruction and Fresh Displacement

A new armed assault in Kenscoff has left homes and property destroyed while forcing residents to flee. Local communities are urging authorities to reinforce security in the area.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Residents of the Kenscoff municipality are once again facing growing insecurity after a new overnight armed attack struck the community of Roben, causing extensive property damage and forcing additional families to flee their homes.

According to information reported by local media, the assault began during the early morning hours when heavily armed individuals entered the area. Witnesses reported that several roads were blocked with fallen trees before homes, vehicles, and communications infrastructure were set on fire, leaving parts of the community heavily damaged.

The attack has added to the humanitarian challenges already affecting Kenscoff, where repeated incidents of violence have displaced residents over recent months. Community members say many families left with little time to gather belongings, seeking safety as gunfire spread through the area.

Reports from the scene also indicate that several people may have been abducted during the assault, although authorities had not confirmed those reports or released an official casualty count at the time this article was published.

Residents are urging the Haitian National Police and government officials to strengthen security operations in the region to prevent additional attacks and restore confidence among communities living in the mountainous areas southeast of Port-au-Prince.

Kenscoff, once viewed as one of the capital region’s more secure municipalities, has experienced an increasing number of armed incursions over the past year. Security analysts say the repeated attacks have contributed to population displacement, disrupted daily life, and raised concerns about the continued expansion of armed groups into surrounding communities.

Authorities had not announced any specific operation or provided further details regarding the latest incident before publication. Local residents continue to call for a stronger and sustained security presence as they await official updates.
